For Every Creator Struggling with Clarity or Confusion
|
Hey Creator, Content can feel like chaos sometimes, and be confusing and consuming. Every where we look we’re told to “follow are passion”, but most of us have no idea what that even means, or if that will lead to making anything worth watching. I’ve often found that “passion” is overrated when it comes to creators who aren’t teenagers or in their early 20s. It’s important to be passionate to some level about the things you spend time on so you don’t burnout. But the idea that it’s the most important part of content creation, has done more harm than good in my opinion. Passion doesn’t make for good content, and doesn’t automatically make up for lack of confidence on camera, content that confuses the audience, or is frankly just poor made, or an idea nobody can understand. Passion won’t save your content, but maybe CLARITY can. If you understand and are very clear on:
Then you actually have a chance of making something that people actually want to watch. When you just make something you want to make, without putting the audience first and understand what they value in the content they’re viewing, you are relying solely on luck. And that may be attractive to a kid doing this for a fun hobby, but not an adult that is looking to leave their job or make the money they put into this back. Making whatever you want in the moment can feel very satisfying, but until you’ve earned the trust of an audience and have proven that you’re not going to waste their time, taking that route means staying on the “creator struggle bus” longer than you have to. The creators who succeed without relying on viral luck, or chasing trends over a cliff, are the creators who understand their audience the most, and are willing to put the audience first and do whatever it takes to focus on clarity, consistency, and confidence. There are very few things in this world more attractive than someone with a clear vision and mission in life, who show up consistently and do the things they say the will, with unshakable confidence. If you want to attract your tribe as a content creator, and become a voice in your community, those three pillars will be essential. You could easily argue that in life as a whole, they are the foundation of lasting success in any endeavor. Here is EXACTLY what that looks like for a content creator:
If you can manage to do that much, then your audience will know they are in the right place for them, and they will continue to not only show up for you, but they will bring other people to the tribe and grow it themselves. An artist makes something to satisfy themselves. A content creator makes content to satisfy a community that they are also a part of. There is a huge difference there. Not every content creator should think like an artist. And not every artist should think like a content creator. For an artist, the art itself comes first, but for a creator to succeed, the audience must ALWAYS come first, and value for the viewer has to be the priority or the content and the creator will suffer for it. My hope is that this finally gives you the clarity and confidence you need, to stop struggling and start creating what matters.
