New Monetization Opportunities Are Emerging For Creators

Monetization is one of the most important issues for content creators, especially if you're trying to go full-time.

That's what the main focus of Creator Economy Insider really is, helping you in your journey to become a full-time creator, and if you're already there, helping you increase your revenue.

Going into 2025 there are several opportunities to diversify income that Creators can explore going forward. But one of the most overlooked opportunities is starting a private membership website, and offering exclusive content and access with a paywall.

Memberships are the most undervalued opportunity in the Creator Economy because Creators have been conditioned by platforms to keep their audience on the platform because that is favored by "the algorithm". And as a result when creators use the membership features within a platform they split 30-50% of their revenue with the platform. Added to this if a user pays with an iOS device, there is an "Apple Tax" of an additional 30%.

The Creator ultimately ends up with less than 50% of the money that their audience wanted them to have. All because the platforms have conditioned Creators and Audiences to stay on the platform at all costs.

What I am encouraging more Creators to do, is to consider how they can offer their own PREMIUM Subscription of $9.99/month and encourage 100-1000 True Fans to support them through that membership and make this their new call to action instead of asking for likes and comments.

Most creators are reluctant to do this because of the upfront cost of paying $69-$199 per month for an owned membership website like Kajabi. However the opportunity exist with a $9.99-$19.99 per month membership supported by even 100 paying members to earn over $1900/month and keep all of the revenue minus fees.

This means keeping significantly more revenue over time, when compared to revenue sharing with a platform, and it also would mean having the opportunity to sell to those loyal fans again.

While private memberships aren't the only option for monetization, I believe they are one of the most important ones going forward for reliable income that a Creator has full ownership of, backed by their audience directly.

Keep What You Earn with Kajabi!

Kajabi is offering you a $69/month plan that can get you started building your own membership site!

Membership Websites and Digital Products are some of the best opportunities to monetize your audience. Ad Revenue is unreliable and you have to share it with the platform, and the same for your hard earn fan donations.

With Kajabi you keep what you earn and you have control of your relationship with your audience and the experience they have.

  • No Revenue Sharing - you'll keep 100% of what you earn besides processor fees for all of your sales
  • All-In-One Business Site - anding pages, email newsletter, invoicing, coaching, courses, communities and cohorts
  • Adobe Express Creator Studio - get access to templates, graphics and AI features to make content easily for your website

My INSIDERS Take on the New Spotify Partner Program

How Spotify is Monetizing Creators

How Can Creators Embrace the Spotify Partner Program?

Spotify wants to directly take on YouTube with the new Spotify for Creators rebrand and the Spotify Partner Program. This offering almost directly mirrors the basic YouTube Partner Program in how it monetizes content creators.

The Spotify Creators initiative and the Spotify Partner Program, launching in January, is going to directly allow Creators to upload video content instead of just audio (and even allow you to replace a previous audio only episode with a video file), and monetize that content with ad placements.

Similarly to YouTube you will be able to manually place these ads throughout your content, and will be paid accordingly. In addition to that you will be paid a portion of Spotify Premium revenue for plays on content where Premium Members get to enjoy ad-free content. This an almost exact duplicate of the YouTube Partner Program and how it offers both Ad-Revenue and Premium Revenue Sharing.

This is a great opportunity for Creators to repurpose video live streams and video podcasting content to the platform and monetize it directly; in my video, I covered all the requirements and details for the Spotify Partner Program.

One of the things I would encourage more Creators to do, is build the content to be platform agnostic. Too many Creators approach their content as purely intended for YouTube or TikTok and the culture of those platforms.

In reality I believe that Creators should be completely platform agnostic and take the opportunity to repurpose and monetize in as many places as possible. This means using language that is more universal. I also believe that Creators call-to-action should not try to get the audience to focus on additional free content or following them on social media, but should instead directly promote their membership website, or at least their own free email newsletter.

With Spotify fully embracing Creator Monetization and offering both Ad-Revenue and Premium Revenue, we will see a huge shift in more creators embracing podcasting and streaming, as well as repurposing that content. Especially since similar to YouTube, Spotify is offering FREE hosting for this content and allowing it to live on the platform forever with no upfront cost. Many Creators will find that the Spotify Partner Program is too good to resist.
