I Interviewed the Vice President of YouTube
Hi Creators,
What do the next 5 years of YouTube look like for Creators? That was my question to Amjad Hanif the Vice President of YouTube.
We did a full interview that you can watch here and see what he had to say about the vision and direction of YouTube.
My Key Takeaways from Our Conversation
Talking to Amjad gave me much more insight into how YouTube views its mission and the vision they have for the Creator experience on the platform. Since he is the VP of Creator Products we focused a lot on how the platform experience is improving at a technical level.
This is why I didn't ask him policy questions, though I would love to tackle that with someone from the policy team or CEO Neal Mohan. What I did get from our conversation was a better overview of YouTube's priorities.
YouTube is focused on 3 core things when it comes to its priorities:
- Helping Creators Make Better Content More Easily
- Helping Creators Grow their Audience Faster
- Helping Creators Monetize with More Options
Their priorities actually line up perfectly with my own.
Through tutorial content, I would like to help Creators produce and edit their content more quickly and make higher-quality content.
Through Strategy Videos I would like to see more creators build an audience faster if they are struggling to break through.
Finally, by teaching the business side of the Creator Economy, more Creators can properly monetize, diversify, and go full-time.

I'm Committing to High Effort Content with More Consistency and Intensity Going Forward
During the pandemic, I had to prioritize my mental health and slow down on uploads by 75%. Slowly but surely I'm recommitting to consistency like never before and I'm also increasing the Effort, Value, Quality, and Consistency of My Content.
Lately, I've been live streaming more with high-quality streams, packed with a ton of value and the supreme effort of long-form workshops and training that would normally be reserved for a high-ticket course all for FREE on my channel. This is something I'm doing 1-2 times per week and that is the overall plan going forward.
Also, I plan to revisit my listicle videos with high-effort and high-quality green screen content which I started exploring earlier this year, which seemed to be something many of you enjoyed and commented on the quality and effort of those videos.
Where this ties into the conversation I had with Amjad as well as my presentation this year at VidSummit, is that YouTube's AI Tools, specifically AI Audio Dubbing is going to make my content more available across the world to an international audience.
My goal is to be the DESTINATION CHANNEL for New Content Creators all over the world who want to learn about YouTube, Podcasting, and Live Streaming when it comes to starting to make content, grow an audience, and monetize their content.
Also with YouTube exploring AI Generative Content, simple videos won't be as competitive as they used to be or as engaging.
I would encourage everyone to consider how they can innovate when it comes to their content formats, and what will allow them to stand out among the top 10% of channels in their niche.
When it comes to Creator Monetization I'm focusing on ways to monetize more OFF-PLATFORM rather than prioritizing getting more views and Ad Revenue from the YouTube Partner Program.
By focusing on Awesome Creator Academy and promoting it in more of my own content I can not only keep more of the revenue but also by creating real value with things like BOOKS, Digital Downloads, and My Membership, I have a more direct impact on my audience than if they just consume content from me on a platform I don't own.
I also intend to pursue more long-term brand deals but also UCG (User Generated Content) and Licensing Deals in the future by partnering with brands on their social media rather than just giving them access to my audience (all of you).
YouTube is adding more and more options for Creator Monetization On-Platform but I've always believed Creators are best served by having a direct transaction with their audience.
