When I started as a content creator, it was hard, even with 30,000 subscribers, to get companies to send me free product review units. Today, it's possible to get sponsorships and brand deals with less than 5,000 subscribers; however, it's not necessarily wise to focus on this.
The main reason small channels want brand deals is to have cash to invest in growing their channel or, if we are being honest, to make them feel validated and like a legitimate creator, which can lead to taking bad deals or even falling for scams.
It's often better to focus on getting to 10,000 subscribers on YouTube before working with brands since MOST Creators never crack 10K subscribers. By focusing on your audience, they will be more likely to support you and help you deliver when the time to work with brands comes.

AI Makes Content Creation a LEVEL Playing Field. With these tools, nearly any creator can make their vision a reality and won't be held back by a lack of budget, experience, or resources.
Here are the key things I am most interested in and want to talk about:
- AI Audio Enhanced Clean-Up
- AI Beat Detection and Clipping
- AI Dream Screen Creation
- AI-Based Audio Dubbing and Localization
- AI-Assisted Ideation and Video Outlines
- AI-Assisted Music Selection
I recently got to spend time talking to the VP of Creator Products, Amjad Hanif, as well as many other members of the YouTube team. There are three main goals he told me that the YouTube Team has.
- Help Creators CREATOR great Content much easier.
- Help Creators GROW larger audiences faster.
- Help Creators MONETIZE and earn more from content.
When I look at the direction that YouTube is heading in with these tools and how AI is closing the gaps from idea to execution and even helping with ideation and execution for new creators, I feel that their efforts are consistent with this VISION for the platform.
AI IS HERE TO STAY; YouTube is making the moves that make it an advantage for creators rather than a detriment. They say that their stance is that they want to be both BOLD and RESPONSIBLE.
Myself, other creators, and journalists also challenged the YouTube leadership team with questions about safeguards, copyright bad actors, and how these tools might be abused or dangers that might be unforeseen.
Neal Mohan answered this by highlighting that they've also developed internal AI Tools that are helping maintain their commitment to safety and responsibility. They are focused on both inputs and outputs when it comes to this. YouTube is also looking heavily at the evolving conversation around copyright. It is working hand in hand with its partners in the Music Industry around Copyright through its Music Incubator and taking steps to ensure artists can opt-out and be protected regarding their sampled material.
Copyright is one of the biggest challenges for New Creators, especially young creators whose creativity is heavily influenced by music, so having more music tools and Copyright Safe music as a priority makes a lot of sense and will be embraced by many creators.
Between that and AI Insights helping creators with creative blocks and ideation, I feel that the most of the challenges Creators have are close to being solved with a single click or a single prompt.
