STOP Struggling to Grow Your Audience

Published 8 months agoĀ ā€¢Ā 5 min read

Hey Creators,

What if I told you that there is a very simple reason that most Creators struggle to grow an audience?

Platforms are SATURATED... with LOW EFFORT CONTENT...ā€‹
You will often hear creator complain that their niche is saturated or that the platform they are on whether YouTube or TikTok is too saturated.

The HARSH TRUTH is that most of what these niches and platforms are saturated with is content viewers don't value and don't want to watch. The platforms are ONLY "saturated" with low-effort content that isn't demonstrating the value the viewers demand.

What is "low effort content"? Aren't all Creators working hard and putting in effort? The short answer is flat-out, NO. This is why most viewers consolidate around the top 3% of channels on YouTube and the Top 1% of Streamers on Twitch. ā€‹

Most YouTube channels NEVER get to 10,000 subscribers on YouTube. This doesn't mean it's impossible to grow as a Small YouTuber today, but it does mean that most people are not equipped and prepared to make competitive content in niches where there are high-effort creators with the experience and resources to create content that drives demand.

This can be discouraging for Small YouTubers who feel like they aren't given a chance when they are still just trying to find their voice and find their footing, but as the platform grows, the standard of quality and consistency that viewers will expect in exchange for their attention is only going to increase.

To create high-effort content you don't need to have a big budget, even if that helps, or even fancy gear. More than anything you need an idea that is too good to ignore for the audience you want to reach.

Identifying and understanding your desired audience and what topics they will be interested in, what thumbnails will stop their scrolling and what titles will make them want to click, is the key to getting them to give you a chance as a Small YouTuber.

HOW TO GET SPONSORS AS A SMALL YOUTUBER

ā€‹
One of the most asked questions I frequently get from Small YouTubers is "How do I get brand deals"? The fact is that it's very difficult to do for Smaller Channels as the value they can offer to a brand is not as obvious upfront. While some small channels do get brand deals and sponsorships, the overwhelming majority of Creators don't get brand deals at all!

And the majority tend to drastically underprice and have no idea how to even reach out to brands. Many don't even have a media kit which is a huge advantage.

To help with this in addition to extensive content you can watch from FREE as well as several articles on Awesome Creator Academy, we have built the Brand Deal Starter Kit with customizable Media Kits, Email Outreach Templates, and a Sponsor List of over 100+ Brands that Work with Content Creators across platforms.

When I first started as a content creator it was hard even with 30,000 subscribers to get companies to send me free product review units. Today it's possible to get sponsorships and brand deals with less than 5,000 subscribers, however, it's not necessarily wise to focus on this.

The main reason small channels want brand deals is to have cash to invest in growing their channel, or if we are being honest to make them feel validated and like a legitimate creator, which can lead to taking bad deals, or even falling for scams.

It's often better to focus on getting to 10,000 subscribers on YouTube before working with brands since MOST Creators never crack 10K subscribers. By focusing on your audience, they will be more likely to support you and help you deliver when the time to work with brands comes.

My INSIDERS Take on Smaller YouTube Channels
ā€‹

Creators Under 1,000 and 10,000 Subscribers should focus on demonstrating value to the viewer as quickly as possible. They should also abandon "variety content" and build a solid foundation focusing on ONE AUDIENCE and catering to that group.

Here are some immediate areas of focus for Small YouTube Channels:

  • Prioritize High-Quality Thumbnails
  • Skip intros and get right into the content
  • Craft powerful hooks at the beginning of the video
  • Focus more on Topic/Title/Thumbnail/Timing than SEO

I recently did a Live Stream where I breakdown everything Small YouTubers need to know to initially succeed by focusing on Finding a Niche Audience that they can serve effectively and then creating high-effort content that is hard to duplicate.
